This Weekend's Las Vegas Rock Radar: Three Shows You Don't Want to Miss!

 As part of my new gig, I occasionally pass along local weekend travel tips to newspapers and magazines, and for airlines travel brochures, spotlighting the bands and shows lighting up Las Vegas. Here are the artists and performances that made my list for this weekend. 🎸⚡

Tonight (October 15), Raiding The Rock Vault storms back onto the stage at the Hard Rock Cafe on the Las Vegas Strip, delivering exactly what its longtime fans have come to expect: Real Rock, Real Rockstars. This isn't your average tribute show. It's a powerhouse celebration of rock 'n' roll history, performed by musicians who have lived it, played it, and helped write it. Packed with classic anthems, blazing guitars, and enough energy to shake the walls, Raiding The Rock Vault brings together veteran performers with credits that read like a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame playlist. If you're looking for one show that captures the spirit, sound, and swagger of rock's greatest era, this is where your weekend should begin. 🀘🎸πŸ”₯

It looks like the Copa Room inside Tuscany Suites gets the weekend nod. Friday night, City of Evil returns to the stage for a full-throttle tribute to Avenged Sevenfold, delivering two complete sets packed with the band's biggest fan favorites. Adding to the fun, the night doubles as a pre-Halloween bash, giving concertgoers the perfect excuse to break out their spooky, wild, or downright outrageous costumes. Best of all, admission is free and the event is open to all ages, making it a great choice for both die-hard Avenged Sevenfold fans and anyone looking for a high-energy night of live music. If you're searching for heavy riffs, pounding drums, and a room full of fellow rock fans, the Copa Room is the place to be Friday night. πŸ€˜πŸŽΈπŸ‘»πŸ”₯

Wild Child Wasp Tribute

Closing out Saturday night, High Priest brings its signature brand of sonic brutality back to the Tuscany, and they're not coming alone!
Joining the assault is Wild Child Wasp Tribute, adding another dose of raw power to an evening built for fans who like their music loud, heavy, and unapologetic. Expect crushing riffs, thunderous drums, screaming guitars, and enough headbanging energy to rattle every table in the room. This is the kind of show that reminds you why live rock and metal continue to thrive in Las Vegas. If you're looking for a gentle evening, keep walking. But if you want to end your Saturday night with a full-scale rock-and-roll beatdown, High Priest and Wild Wasp have your marching orders. What a brutal way to close out the weekend.

{My Take}

From legendary rock anthems on the Strip to Avenged Sevenfold favorites and a Saturday night metal assault at the Tuscany, this weekend proves once again that Las Vegas is far more than casinos and neon lights. For music fans, it's a city with a new soundtrack every night.
Get out, support live music, and make a few memories before Monday comes calling.

I know I am! πŸ€˜πŸŽΈπŸ”₯

This Saturday July 11th: Lee Canyon Goes Classic Rock Loud In The Afternoon — Later that Night The Metal Gods Burn It Down Inside The Tuscany Suites Casino Copa Room LV

 Coming This Saturday, July 11th, 2026

This Saturday, July 11th isn’t just a date on the calendar —

It’s a full‑throttle rock‑writer gauntlet, the kind of day that reminds me why I still drag my boots into the wild for the music that raised me.

⚡ Mountain‑Top Classic Rock Mayhem

High on the mountain, in the open air where the wind carries every riff like a battle cry, Retrosonic is set to unleash a classic‑rock avalanche — 60s soul, 70s thunder, 80s fire, 90s grit. Watch the ridgeline. When these guys (and gal) plug in, rockslides aren’t a geological event; they’re a setlist consequence. This band doesn’t “play” the mountain. They make the mountain rumble, and after this weekend, Mount Charleston and the Lee Canyon Ski Resort may never be the same!

⚔ Nightfall: Heavy Metal Double‑Strike

Then the sun drops, the lights rise, and the night turns metallic.

  • High Priest is a heavy‑metal ignition squad, the ultimate Judas Priest tribute inferno — a band that doesn’t just honor the pioneers of British steel; they reignite the furnace. Coming off a recent engagement at the Whisky in Hollywood, they're ready to bring their fire back to Las Vegas! They'll hit the stage in full leather‑and‑stud armor, guitars slicing through the air, drums landing like hammer strikes, and vocals sharp enough to cut steel. It’s not imitation; it’s steel‑cutting screams and molten‑metal energy roaring back to life under the desert sky.

  • Fatal Illusions hits like a Megadeth thrash assault — a precision‑tooled, adrenaline‑charged homage to one of the Big Four of thrash metal that feels less like a tribute and more like a deployment. They channel Megadeth’s razor‑wire riffing, battlefield‑march rhythms, and that unmistakable snarling attitude with such ferocity that the air itself seems to tighten. Every down‑picked riff land like artillery, every solo slices through the night like shrapnel, and the crowd becomes part of the blast radius. This isn’t nostalgia; it’s a reenactment of the battlefield, a thrash‑metal warzone roaring back to life under the desert sky.

🎸 Just Another Day in the Rock Trenches

So yeah — sunrise to midnight, mountain quakes to metal carnage. Just another chapter in the ongoing saga of a rock journalist’s life. Some people collect stamps. I collect decibels, bruises, and stories that smell like amplifier heat.

Someone's got to be a rock writer. And I'm glad that it's me!

The Local Las Vegas Music Scene Rocks This Friday Night for St. Jude’s Ranch For Children !

 Las Vegas may be known for its bright lights and nonstop entertainment, but on Friday, May 16th, the city’s heart will beat for something far more meaningful.

Musicians, fans, and community members will gather at The Usual Place for “Las Vegas Music Scene Has a Heart”, a benefit concert supporting St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. More than just a night of great music, the event showcases the powerful role the local music scene plays in giving back, proving that behind the amps and spotlights is a community with deep compassion and purpose.

{About St. Jude's Ranch For Children}

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, located in Boulder City, Nevada, has been a sanctuary for abused, neglected, and at-risk children and young adults since 1966. Their mission is to transform lives by providing a safe, nurturing environment and empowering individuals to create new chances, choices, and hope within a caring community. Through comprehensive programs—including therapeutic residential foster care, transitional living, support for pregnant and parenting teens, and sibling preservation—they aim to break the cycle of abuse and neglect by mending spirits and renewing hope. The organization also operates The Healing Center, the only residential treatment center in Southern Nevada dedicated to child victims of sex trafficking. St. Jude’s Ranch continues to be a cornerstone of compassion and resilience in Southern Nevada.
