Where Are All The Fans: The Harsh Truth About Local Show Marketing!

Warning: Major Rock Writer Rant Coming Up!

I’ve been shouting this forever — blasting it like a guitar solo straight into the neon sky. Way too many killer shows and music events still slip through the cracks when it comes to AD & promotion.

Fans stay in the dark, the buzz never builds, and the whole thing ends up feeling like a badass concert or music event that nobody got invited to!

And it drives me nuts. I spent 15 years in Dallas learning the ropes from the best promoters in the business — back when you didn’t have the internet to shout from. Now we’re in the digital age, where reaching fans is easier than ever, yet I still see awesome bands and high‑energy events getting shortchanged. Light crowds, no buzz, half‑filled rooms — it shouldn’t be happening.

Then, a few days later after these happenings, fans jump on social media, rapping about how they didn’t even know the band or event was going on. That’s the kind of thing that fries my circuits!

So why aren’t these killer shows getting the ad and marketing love they deserve? Simple: too many bands don’t have a dedicated promo person, so the job gets buried under rehearsals, day gigs, and everyday chaos. Venues often assume the artists will handle the hype, so they barely push the event. A lot of bands think one or two social media posts are enough — but in today’s crowded feeds, a single flyer drop, or two, disappears in seconds. Some don’t budget even twenty bucks for targeted ads or a trained media professional, which can make a huge difference! Promotion often starts way too late, like trying to shout into a hurricane three days before showtime. The messaging isn’t fan‑friendly — no excitement, no personality, just generic “Come see us Friday” posts that don’t move the needle. Too many rely on word of mouth, which is great but not a real strategy. And at the end of the day, nobody is owning the hype — every successful event needs someone whose whole mission is to make noise!

Face it — if your band or music event can’t even pack a room for a free show, something’s seriously off in the wiring. I see gigs all the time that could be standing‑room only with just a little smart effort in the right places. Instead of a wall‑to‑wall crowd, you get that awkward moment where everyone’s asking the same sad question: Where are all the fans?

And here’s the part nobody wants to say out loud: venues are in the business of making money — food, drinks, bodies in the room. If fans don’t show up and the seats stay empty, how long do you think these venues will keep promoting local bands and local music? At some point, the math stops working, and live music gets replaced by the cold reality of DJs and piped‑in music.

Not trying to pat myself on the back — been there, done that, survived the grind. Besides being a writer and journalist, I’ve put in my years on the ad and marketing side of the music biz. I’ve seen how the machine works from the inside out!

And there’s a whole lot from my ghostwriter era that I still don’t talk about — the kind of behind‑the‑curtain stuff that teaches you exactly how this industry really moves.

{My Take}

For the price of a couple of adult beverages, I can jump in and help. I’ve got the chops. I can write your ad and marketing posts from the moment you announce the show all the way up to the day you hit the stage. I’ll help you fill the seats, move the tickets, and spark the buzz your upcoming shows and events deserve — the kind of hype that gets fans talking and keeps the room packed. I’m currently booking projects for the rest of the year, so when you’re ready to rumble, hit me up on Facebook Messenger at facebook.com/garyenglandlv

From Weekenders To High‑Earners: The New Face Of Las Vegas Tourism

Las Vegas is definitely changing! So are the people visiting Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is attracting a noticeably different crowd than it did just a few years ago. Today’s typical visitor is younger, more affluent, more likely to be single, and spending their money differently than past generations of Vegas travelers. The city’s own data shows a clear demographic and behavioral pivot — one that’s reshaping everything from casino strategy to nightlife programming.

Who the Average Visitor Is Now

Higher‑Income Travelers Dominate

  • 75% of visitors in 2025 came from households earning over $100,000, a dramatic rise from pre‑pandemic years.

  • High‑income travelers are also increasing even as overall visitor spending on basics (food, drinks, shopping) has dipped.

Younger and More Singles

  • Surveys show younger visitors and more single travelers compared to recent years.

  • Stays are getting shorter, but the demographic is more experience‑driven and nightlife‑oriented.

Slightly Fewer Visitors Overall

  • Visitor volume has dipped in several recent months compared to the previous year, even as satisfaction remains high, and 80% say they plan to return.

Why the Shift Is Happening

 Post‑Pandemic Travel Priorities

Higher‑income travelers rebounded first and fastest after COVID‑19, and they’ve continued to dominate Vegas tourism. Their spending power aligns with the city’s push toward premium experiences.

The Rise of High‑End, Immersive Entertainment

From the Sphere to upscale nightlife and curated dining, Vegas has leaned into spectacle and luxury, naturally attracting wealthier and younger audiences who want “eventized” travel.

 Economic Pressures on Middle‑Income Travelers

With rising travel costs, many mid‑tier visitors are cutting back or shortening trips — reflected in lower everyday spending even among those who still come.

Lifestyle and Demographic Trends

Younger adults are traveling more frequently, often for shorter, high‑impact trips. Vegas fits that model perfectly: quick flights, social energy, and a constant churn of new attractions.

What This Means for Las Vegas

The city is evolving toward a visitor base that:

  • Expects premium experiences

  • Prioritizes nightlife, events, and unique attractions

  • Spends selectively rather than broadly

  • Returns often, but for shorter stays

For venues, bands, and entertainment creators in Las Vegas, this shift is a signal: the future belongs to high‑quality, high‑energy, visually immersive experiences that appeal to younger, affluent travelers looking for something they can’t get anywhere else.

{My Take}

Las Vegas has always evolved with its audience, and today’s visitor is proof that the city’s future belongs to travelers who want premium experiences, quick-hit adventures, and unforgettable moments. As the demographic shifts younger and wealthier, the Strip is reshaping itself in real time — and the venues, entertainers, and creators who adapt fastest will be the ones who define the next era of Vegas!

Stretching Your Casino Dollar: Beginner Friendly Slot Machine Tips And Strategies

Five nice bonus rounds in three days is a slot player's dream! It sure doesn't happen that often to me.

Over the years, I've picked up a few tricks of the trade to help me improve my odds of winning.

Slot machines in Las Vegas are designed with a house edge, so the odds are always tilted in the casino’s favor. You can’t completely even them up, but you can improve your chances, stretch your bankroll, and maximize the entertainment value with smart choices. Here are some ways that can be used to level the playing field.

Choose the Right Machines

  • Higher Denominations Pay Better – Generally, $1 machines or higher have better return-to-player (RTP) percentages than penny slots.

  • Classics vs. Video Slots – Simple three-reel machines usually offer better odds than complex multi-line video slots with big bonus features.

  • Know the Payback – Las Vegas Strip slots often pay back less (85–90%) compared to off-Strip or local casinos (92–97%).

Manage Your Bankroll

  • Set a Budget – Decide how much you’re willing to lose before sitting down.

  • Bet Size Matters – Some machines require the maximum bet for the best payouts or jackpots. If that’s too high, choose a lower denomination so you can still play max credits.

  • Cash Out Wins – If you double your buy-in, consider taking profits instead of feeding them back in.

Pick the Right Casino

  • Local Casinos Have Looser Slots – Casinos like Stations, Boyd, or Fremont Street venues often advertise higher paybacks than Strip resorts.

  • Avoid Airport & Convenience Slots – These usually have the worst payouts since players aren’t expected to play long.

Play Smart

  • Use Players Club Cards – Always swipe your rewards card. It doesn’t change the odds, but you’ll get comps, free play, and perks that offset losses.

  • Time of Play Doesn’t Matter – Slots are random, so don’t believe myths about “hot” or “due” machines.

  • Know When to Walk Away – Don’t chase losses. Think of slot play as entertainment, not income.

Strategies to Stretch Play

  • Pick Machines with Smaller Jackpots – They hit more often than life-changing progressives.

  • Free Spins & Bonuses – Hunt for games with frequent free spin features—they give more time on the machine without extra cost.

  • Casino Promotions – Look for multiplier days, free slot tournaments, and giveaways that add value.

{My Take}

You can’t eliminate the house edge, but by choosing the right machines, casinos, and bankroll strategy, you can get closer to evening up the odds while enjoying longer sessions.

Good Luck!

My Tricks Of The Trade On How To Pick The Best Slot Machines In A Las Vegas Casino

One of my major passions in life is playing adult video games, slot machines!

If you're one of my Facebook friends, it may look like I win pretty much anytime that I play. The truth is that I play a lot. So, the odds catch up with me because I'm a daily player.

My Take Yesterday.

There are tricks of the slot machine trade.

Hopefully, some of these tricks will help you win next time you play.

Choosing the best slot machines in a Las Vegas casino can feel like a mix of strategy, superstition, and luck. While slot outcomes are always random, there are ways to improve your experience and potentially boost your chances of winning. Here are a few of the tricks that I've learned over the years.

Understand the Machine Types

Not all slots are created equal:

  • Classic Slots – Simple, 3-reel machines. Great for beginners.

  • Video Slots – 5 reels with advanced features, themes, and bonus rounds.

  • Progressive Slots – Jackpots grow with each play. Huge wins are possible, but the odds are lower.

  • Loose Slots – Machines with higher payout percentages. The holy grail!

Know the RTP (Return to Player)

  • RTP is the percentage of money bet that a machine will pay back over time.

  • Look for machines with an RTP of 95% or higher.

  • You won’t see the RTP displayed in casinos but ask staff or research online (some games have known RTPs by title).

Location, Location, Location

Casino myths say:

  • Slots near high-traffic areas (entrances, shows, buffets) might be “looser” to attract players.

  • Avoid machines tucked away in corners or by table games—they’re often tighter.

Pick a Machine That Fits Your Budget

  • Low Denomination (1¢ - 25¢) = More spins, smaller wins.

  • High Denomination ($1+) = Bigger wins, higher risk.

  • Progressive machines often require max bets to qualify for the jackpot, so make sure your bankroll can handle it.

Play for Fun, Not Just Profit

  • Choose machines with themes you enjoy (movies, music, pop culture).

  • A machine that entertains you will make your experience more enjoyable—even if you don’t hit big.

Bonus Tips

  • Sign up for a player’s card. Earn comps, free play, and rewards.

  • Set a win/loss limit. Know when to walk away.

  • Watch before you play. See how a machine performs for others—it may help you avoid a cold machine.

  • Avoid chasing losses. Every spin is random, no matter what just happened.

{My Take}

My Biggest tip: I play as much as I can at the same two casinos. So, I know the lay of the casino. Which slots pay, and which slots seem to be tighter?
While there’s no guaranteed formula for winning at slots, understanding the types of machines, seeking out higher RTPs, and playing smart with your bankroll can give you an edge. But above all, the real jackpot is having fun. Whether you’re chasing a big win or just soaking up the Vegas vibe, pick a machine that keeps you entertained—and remember, every spin is a new chance to hit it big.

Good luck out there, and may the reels be ever in your favor!

Good Luck!
