Boomerang: The Heartbreak Of Loving Someone Who Keeps Coming Back Broken!

{My Take}

Folks, we all know somebody who’s been dragged through the darker backroads of life. The ones who drink ‘til their buddies can’t recognize ’em… the ones who stare into the mirror and don’t see the same soul looking back. They swear off the bottle, only to get yanked right back into that same old storm.

This song is for them—every friend, every brother, every sister who’s been caught in that hard‑living loop. Boomerang is dedicated to the ones still fighting to find their way home!

{The Story Behind The Song}

Underneath all the dust and neon lights of Las Vegas, Boomerang is a story about a man trapped in a hard‑hitting loop. He’s a man caught in a sorrowful loop — drinking until he turns into a stranger nobody knows anymore, not even the folks who love him most. Every time he slips back into those old ways, he fades into a ghost of the man he used to be, leaving nothing but worry and empty space behind. And somehow, he still manages to stand back up… only to tumble right back into the same hurting cycle that breaks hearts every time it comes around.

Underneath the story is a bigger truth. Boomerang isn’t just about alcohol — it’s about how easy it is for any of us to lose ourselves to the wrong things. Addiction, bad choices, toxic love, chasing ambition too hard, carrying grief too long… all those forces can slowly bend a person into someone their loved ones barely recognize. That “ghost” in the song is a symbol of that painful transformation — when you look in the mirror and don’t see the same soul staring back, and when the people who care about you feel like they’re losing you one piece at a time.

I want you to listen to the song yourself. See if it reminds you of someone close to you. See if it hits you the way it hit me.

Sometimes a song doesn’t just tell a story — it shines a light on one we’ve lived ourselves!

Stryper's Michael Sweet’s Message To A Divided World: Rock Respect And The Red‑White‑and‑Blue

Thursday night, while I was cruising through Facebook, I landed on a post from Michael Sweet — singer, songwriter, guitarist, founding member of Stryper, and one of the most respected voices in the rock world. This is a guy who’s earned the admiration of the music community and the global stage. When Michael Sweet speaks, you don’t just scroll past — you stop, you listen, and you take in every word.

I’ve got nothing but respect for Michael Sweet — his music, his life, his convictions, and the way he and his band stand tall for what they believe in. He’s earned that respect from the rock community and from fans around the world, and I’m right there with them.

To keep things straight, here’s the post he shared — copy‑and‑pasted exactly as he wrote it — along with the slick graphic Michael put together himself.

I posted this yesterday. I’ve spent a good part of my morning blocking people & deleting some pretty horrible comments.
Some from people who live here who hate the flag and these colors, and some from people in other countries who also seem to hate the flag and its colors.
What is going on? I was born in the USA. I’m proud of this flag and its colors. If you want to come here and disrespect what this flag represents (and those who died for this flag), then expect to be blocked. I won’t put up with it. Ever!!
By posting this, I’m not disrespecting other countries. I’m simply paying respect to this country. I’m very patriotic and proud of our beautiful country. And, it just so happens that I was born on the 4th of July. Maybe God knew how much I would love this country and he blessed me to be born on that day, who knows🤷‍♂️
My point is, why would anyone have a problem with me posting something like this? My mind is blown🤯
If the Internet has shown me one thing, it is that this world needs Jesus now more than ever🙏"

Being a rock writer for 58 years, I’ve watched the whole ride — the highs, the lows, the wars, the love, the hatred, the peace, and, in these recent years, a growing wave of disrespect for our country and even for the One who created us all. Through all of that, Michael Sweet and Stryper have stood tall for more than four decades, pulling countless fans toward faith through the power of their music.

So when some folks pushed back against Michael’s red‑white‑and‑blue Stryper logo, I had to wonder: What’s suddenly so wrong with this country? Since when did freedom become something that hits people in the face? What’s so bad about the USA — or the colors that define it? Instead of unloading on Michael’s sharp, patriotic design, maybe the real question is what’s actually hitting people beneath the surface?

From where I’m standing, Michael called it straight — this world needs Jesus now more than ever!

For that, I stand with Michael Sweet & Stryper!

God Bless America! (And The World)

Country’s Bill Sanderson & Southern Rock’s Sweet Home Alabama Saddle Up At Viva Tequila Henderson To Benefit The Las Vegas High School & Jr High Rodeo Team Thursday Night July 16!

Pictured left: Bill Sanderson
Pictured right: Sweet Home Alabama & The Las Vegas High School & Jr High Rodeo Team

The Las Vegas music scene doesn’t just give back — it saddles up and rides in full force, and Thursday night in Henderson proved it. Country troubadour Bill Sanderson brought the twang, Sweet Home Alabama rolled in with that Southern‑rock thunder, and Viva Tequila Restaurant & Bar threw open its doors like a honky‑tonk ready for a throwdown, all to support the Las Vegas High School & Jr. High Rodeo Team.

From the first guitar lick, the place was jumping like a dance hall on a Saturday night. Twenty percent of every plate and pour went straight to the rodeo kids, and raffle tickets were whipping through the air like someone kicked up dust on a dusty backroad. We dug into onion rings, chicken strips, and fries, washed it down with ice‑cold drinks, and settled in for three-plus hours of country soul and Southern‑rock fire that kept the crowd shoulder‑to‑shoulder and loud enough to rattle the windows.

Inside Viva Tequila, the vibe hit that perfect crossroads — country comfort meeting Southern‑rock swagger. The twang warmed the room, the guitar grit sharpened it, and together they wrapped the crowd in that familiar, boots‑on‑the‑ground Americana glow. Every raffle ticket bought, every plate served, every chorus belted out felt like another spark tossed into the night.

This wasn’t just Vegas showing up — it was Viva Tequila, the musicians, and the community standing tall, lifting their young rodeo riders with every note, every cheer, every stomp of a boot on the floor.

With a packed house, food and drinks covering every table, and raffle tickets flying like rodeo arena confetti, Thursday night stayed alive from start to finish. The energy never dipped, the crowd never thinned, and the support never slowed. By the time the amps cooled, one thing was clear — Thursday night was a runaway win for the Las Vegas High School & Jr. High Rodeo Team, the kind of country‑and‑Southern‑rock‑soaked community victory that sends everyone home grinning!

{My Take}

The Las Vegas local music scene came riding in full force Thursday night, boots down and guitars up. Bill Sanderson brought that smooth, down‑south country croon — the kind that feels like a warm porch light on a summer night — while Sweet Home Alabama rolled in with Southern‑rock thunder that would make Lynyrd Skynyrd crack a proud grin. And Viva Tequila Restaurant & Bar swung its doors wide open, hearts even wider, turning the whole place into a desert‑side honky‑tonk with purpose.

It wasn’t just a show — it was a country‑and‑Southern‑rock throwdown for a cause, a night where twang met grit, community met rhythm, and Vegas proved once again it knows how to show up when it counts. For the Las Vegas High School & Jr High Rodeo Team.

For that, Vegas tips its hat to each and every one of you!

Y'all flat-out tore it up!

Why The Next Era Of Vegas Entertainment Will Look Nothing Like The Last !

Las Vegas has never been shy about reinvention, but the current transformation of its entertainment industry is one of the most dramatic in decades. The city is moving toward a model built on immersive experiences, genre diversification, and strategic audience targeting — a shift driven by economics, technology, and changing visitor expectations.

The runaway success of venues like the Sphere has changed the playbook. Audiences now expect spectacle, storytelling, and sensory overload — not just a band on a stage. Production-heavy residencies, multimedia shows, and hybrid concert‑theater formats are becoming the norm because they offer something tourists can’t get at home.

Why it’s happening:

  • Visitors want “eventized” entertainment worth the ticket price.

  • Technology allows artists to build signature experiences unique to Vegas.

  • Venues can charge premium rates for immersive shows with long-term residency runs.

Genre Expansion Is Reshaping the Local Music Landscape

Country music is booming, Latin music is rising fast, EDM remains a powerhouse, and classic rock — while still beloved — is shifting into a more curated, specialty lane. Vegas is no longer a one‑genre town; it’s a mosaic of niche audiences, each with its own venues, fanbases, and booking strategies.

Why it’s happening:

  • Younger visitors bring different tastes and spending habits.

  • New venues are being built specifically for country, Latin, and hybrid nightlife concepts.

  • Surviving local bands are adapting, diversifying, and working harder on their music presentation and on getting noticed by music fans and venue management through their social media and music pages.

  • These surviving bands are performing at off‑Strip properties and at local bars that want consistent traffic. Tribute bands, themed productions, and genre‑specific acts are finding long-term homes outside the traditional casino community.

Why it’s happening:

  • Casinos want predictable revenue and consistent foot traffic.

  • Local venues need stability in a competitive market.

  • Bands benefit from steady work and built‑in audiences.

As mega‑productions dominate the Strip, local audiences are gravitating toward authentic, neighborhood‑based entertainment — the kind of live music that feels personal, accessible, and rooted in community. This is where local bands, tribute acts, and rising artists are surviving.

Why it’s happening:

  • Locals want alternatives to high-priced Strip shows.

  • Neighborhood venues are investing in better sound, staging, and promotion.

  • Social media makes it easier for local acts to build loyal followings.

Rising production costs, shifting tourism patterns, and the need for year‑round revenue are pushing venues to rethink their strategies. The result is a more flexible, experimental entertainment landscape — one that rewards creativity and punishes stagnation.

Why it’s happening:

  • Casinos are diversifying beyond gaming revenue.

  • Visitors are spending more selectively.

  • The city is competing with global entertainment destinations, not just regional ones.

{My Take}

Las Vegas has always thrived on reinvention, but the current shift feels deeper and more intentional than anything in recent memory. The city is blending spectacle with intimacy, technology with authenticity, and global draw with local identity. As visitor expectations evolve and venues rethink what a “Vegas show” can be, the entertainment landscape is becoming more diverse, more immersive, and more strategically focused than ever. The result is a city not just keeping pace with the future of entertainment — but actively defining it!

Country Music Momentum And Classic Rock’s New Role In Las Vegas

Thanks to my good friend Jeff Outlaw (Sweet Home Alabama) for bringing to my attention that while Classic Rock bands may be going through tough times right now due to the closures of major music venues around Las Vegas in the past year or so, country music is on the rise and has been for a while! So, I talked with my friends in Las Vegas and in Nashville, and with my media colleagues around the US (All experts in the music Industry) about Vegas' shift in music trends to get their opinions.

Country music isn’t just having a moment in Las Vegas — it’s building a full‑blown movement. Over the past few years, the city has seen a surge in new country venues, bigger festival lineups, and a wave of local country bands stepping into the spotlight. The growth is visible everywhere: from nightly calendars packed with twang and two‑stepping to major headliners anchoring the Strip.

New Venues, New Energy

Las Vegas now hosts a steady stream of country concerts and residencies, with 2026 shaping up to be one of the strongest years yet. Major artists like Kenny Chesney at The Sphere and rising performers at local spots such as Stoney’s North Forty and Dawghouse Saloon reflect how deeply country has embedded itself into the city’s entertainment identity.

These venues aren’t just booking national acts — they’re giving local bands more stages, more nights, and more visibility than ever before. The result is a thriving grassroots scene that complements the big-ticket shows.

Local Country Bands on the Rise

With more stages comes more opportunity. Local artists are finding consistent gigs, larger crowds, and a growing fanbase hungry for authentic country storytelling. The city’s nightly country music schedule is now robust enough to support both established performers and newcomers looking to break through.

This momentum is helping shape a new identity for Las Vegas — one where country music stands shoulder‑to‑shoulder with EDM, pop, and rock.

What About Classic Rock?

Classic rock isn’t disappearing from Las Vegas — but it is shifting.

For decades, classic rock was one of the city’s most reliable live‑music staples. Tribute bands, lounge acts, and legacy artists dominated local stages. But as country music expands and younger audiences diversify their tastes, classic rock is experiencing a slow but noticeable contraction in the number of nightly venues dedicated to it.

The genre still thrives in select hotspots and major residencies, but the overall footprint is smaller than it was a few years ago. Country’s rise has pushed classic rock into a more curated, boutique role rather than the default soundtrack of the city.

{My Take}

Country music is poised for continued growth, fueled by major 2026–2027 concert lineups, new venues, and a strong local band scene!

Classic rock remains beloved, but its presence is more selective and less ubiquitous than in previous decades.

Las Vegas is evolving, and country music is becoming one of its defining live‑music pillars.

Las Vegas has always reinvented itself, and its music scene is doing the same. Country’s surge — powered by new venues, stronger local bands, and major touring acts — reflects a city leaning into fresh energy and new audiences. Classic rock isn’t gone, but it’s evolving into a more curated, specialty experience rather than the nightly default it once was. Together, these shifts signal a broader truth: Vegas isn’t just following national trends, it’s shaping them, one stage at a time.

Vegas has officially "Gone Country", at least for now!

The Beat Beneath The Canopy: Why The Fremont Street Experience Rules Downtown Las Vegas

For the first time in many months, I have a one-day vacay away from writing. What good timing, being that finally I can experience where my music adventure began, way back when I moved to Las Vegas in 1999. A short drive down to the Fremont Street Experience, to catch up with some old friends, and to hear some BaDD-A$$ music!

About Fremont Street, and the three awesome bands that I caught up to this past Friday night.

On any given night in Downtown Las Vegas, the air is thick with neon glow, the hum of slot machines, and most importantly, the pulse of live music. Beneath the sprawling LED canopy of the Fremont Street Experience, three stages keep the city’s historic core alive, drawing crowds that rival the Strip’s megaresorts.

The Main Street Stage, 1st Street Stage, and 3rd Street Stage aren’t just platforms for cover bands and tribute acts. They’re the heartbeat of downtown, places where locals and tourists alike gather shoulder-to-shoulder, beer in hand, to sing along to classics or discover new sounds.

A Short History of the Fremont Street Experience

Fremont Street has always been the soul of Las Vegas. In the early 20th century, it was the city’s first paved street, lined with casinos and neon signs that earned it the nickname “Glitter Gulch.”

By the 1980s, however, the Strip’s glitzy megaresorts began pulling tourists away, leaving downtown struggling to compete. City leaders responded with a bold idea: transform Fremont into a pedestrian mall capped by a massive light canopy.

On December 14, 1995, the Fremont Street Experience officially opened, spanning five blocks and instantly redefining downtown nightlife. Over the years, it has evolved with attractions like the SlotZilla Zipline and upgraded canopy technology, but its essence remains the same: a place where history and spectacle collide.

Why the Music & the Stages Endure

  • Free and Accessible: In a city where entertainment often comes with a hefty price tag, Fremont’s stages remain free. Anyone can wander in and be part of the experience!

  • Variety and Energy: From rock legends reborn through tribute acts to country jams during the National Finals Rodeo, the programming is eclectic enough to keep repeat visitors engaged.

  • Immersive Setting: The canopy above isn’t just decoration, it’s a 1,375-foot-long LED spectacle that syncs with performances, turning concerts into multi-sensory events.

  • Tradition Meets Community: Annual events like the Downtown Rocks concert series and the Downtown Hoedown have become rituals, cementing the stages as cultural anchors.

As for this music & entertainment journalist, “You don’t plan to stay for hours, but you always do. The music grabs you, and suddenly you’re part of the crowd.”

 The Legacy Lives On

Thirty years later, the Fremont Street Experience is more than a tourist draw; it’s a cultural landmark. The three stages embody the free-spirited energy of “old Vegas” while embracing modern spectacle. Together, they ensure that downtown remains a living, breathing entertainment hub, distinct from the Strip’s polished megaresorts.

In a city built on reinvention, Fremont Street proves that some traditions don’t just survive, they thrive!

Take it from me. The Fremont Street Experience is alive and kicking!

As far as the band's Friday night. They all kicked major Booty!!

Weekend Warriors of Rock: Inside Blue String Theory’s Journey Of Performance And Commitment

Las Vegas is a city built on sound and spectacle, and few bands embody that spirit as well as Blue String Theory. More than just another tribute act, this group of seasoned musicians has carved out a name for themselves by delivering the music fans love with authenticity, energy, and a clear respect for the rock legends they pay homage to.

(Click On Pic To Enlarge)

The band’s lineup is a showcase of top-level talent: Brian Pollack commands the stage with his powerhouse vocals that soar well above the mix, Kevin Woodall delivers precision and fire on guitar, Lonnie NaVeau locks down the groove on bass, Scott Mayhood brings depth and atmosphere on the keys, and James Sloan drives it all home with his steady, hard-hitting drum beats that are the engine behind this amazing band known as BST. Together, they form a tight unit that captures the magic of classic rock while putting their own stamp of approval on each and every performance.

What truly sets Blue String Theory apart isn’t just their skill, but their story. While the rest of the band calls Las Vegas home, frontman Brian Pollack has made a remarkable commitment to himself and to his fans. He flies in from Texas every weekend the band performs. That kind of dedication is rare in any industry, but especially in live music, where schedules are demanding and travel is relentless. For your commitment, I salute you, Brian!

Brian’s weekly trips are more than logistics; they’re a reflection of his passion. “It’s all for the love of the music,” and that love shows in every song he sings. His presence transforms Blue String Theory’s shows into more than performances; they become celebrations of music that has defined generations over the years!

Audiences in Las Vegas have high expectations, after all, this is the Entertainment Capital of the World. Blue String Theory rises to that challenge with every set. The band doesn’t just cover the classics; they recreate the energy, attitude, and excitement of an era when rock and roll ruled the airwaves.

Their shows aren’t just concerts; they’re experiences. Fans leave with smiles, memories, and that feeling of being transported back to the soundtrack of their lives. Whether it’s a hard-driving anthem or a soulful ballad, Blue String Theory makes each song feel alive and relevant today.

In Las Vegas, tribute bands are plentiful, but Blue String Theory offers something deeper. Their authenticity comes not only from their talent, but from their personal investment in what they do.

Brian Pollack’s weekly flight from Texas is the perfect symbol of that commitment, proof that for these musicians, the stage is where they truly belong!

{My Take}

To me, Blue String Theory isn’t just another tribute band in Las Vegas. They’re a living example of what passion, talent, and dedication look like when it all comes together on stage.

From Brian Pollack flying in from Texas each weekend to join his bandmates to the seamless blend of Kevin Woodall’s guitar, Lonnie NaVeau’s bass, Scott Mayhood’s keys, and James Sloan’s drums, this group proves that the love of music can transcend distance, schedules, and the everyday grind.

For their audiences in Las Vegas, that means one thing: every performance is delivered with heart and soul, power, and the kind of energy that keeps fans coming back for more!

Musician Michael Braun: From Childhood Dreams To Singing On The Las Vegas Strip To Headlining Las Vegas Venues To National Recording Artist

Las Vegas’s vibrant streets and iconic venues are the backdrop of many success stories, but few are as compelling as that of Michael Braun. What started as childhood dreams, to humble street performances on the Las Vegas Strip, has blossomed into a thriving career as a headlining musician at Las Vegas's storied venues.

He began strumming the guitar at just seven and, by nine, was already performing professionally with country bands. His early passion quickly evolved: he later performed with classic rock touring acts like Rock Candy and co-founded the acoustic trio 30 Stories.

Michael’s stage presence is hard to miss. He’s brought his faithful, energetic renditions of classic rock and country hits to venues across Las Vegas, as well as in Laughlin, Nevada. His performances have spanned venues such as Silverton's Mermaid Lounge, Gilley’s at Treasure Island, Rosalia’s Cantina, and the Gaudi Bar inside Sunset Station Hotel Casino.

His setlist reads like a "greatest hits" roll call, featuring the Rolling Stones, Journey, Bon Jovi, Eagles, Aerosmith, U2, and Prince. Plus, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, John Denver, and Chris Stapleton, to mention a few from Michael's country setlist.

I call Michael's setlist "A Buffet Of Classic Rock And Country Music That Any Music Fan Can Enjoy"!

Since I first met Michael a few years back, and saw him perform onstage, I knew that someday he'd be discovered. That someday is here! Recently, Michael was approached by producer Rob Hegel to collaborate on a music venture. Along with Sound Engineer Rob Katz, Michael will soon be a national recording artist.

I'm so very proud to announce that Michael's EP will be stream and download available on the 9th of September (official release date), and Michael will have physical copies of his EP available at his performances around the 27th of this month.

Here's a little tease for you to watch and listen to from Michael Braun's new EP.

How Las Vegas Music Trends Have Evolved From 2015 Until today

In one of my previous blogs, I discussed the popularity of Classic Rock music in Las Vegas.

Today, I'm going to compare the different music genres over the last 10 years. (2015 to 2025)

Which music genres are more popular with the fans since 2015, and which music genres are losing ground?

Here's a "Recent" side-by-side comparison of the most popular music genres in Las Vegas in 2015 vs. 2025, based on live performances, residencies, club trends, and audience demographics:

Las Vegas Music Genre Popularity: 2015 vs. 2025

20152025
1Pop – Britney Spears, Celine Dion

1. Pop – Adele, Madonna, U2
2EDM – Calvin Harris, Tiësto

2. EDM – Zedd, Steve Aoki, Dom Dolla
3Classic Rock / Rock – Raiding the Rock Vault, Hard Rock shows

3. Hip-Hop / Rap – Usher, Travis Scott, club hosts
4Hip-Hop / R&B – Drai’s, 1OAK nights

4. Classic Rock / Rock – tribute bands, House of Blues, The Strat
5Country – Reba, Brooks & Dunn

5. Country – Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan
6
Jazz / Lounge / Crooner
– legacy shows in lounges

6. Latin – Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, Karol G
7Latin – smaller club presence

7. R&B / Soul – SZA, Usher, The Weekend influence

8Metal / Hard Rock – Vamp’d, local shows

8. Jazz / Crooner – still alive in lounges & The Smith Center

9Tribute Bands – popular with locals

9. Tribute Bands / Variety – still thriving at off-Strip venues

10—10. K-Pop / Global Pop – small but growing fandom presence

Key Changes (2015 ➡ 2025):

  • Hip-Hop surged ahead, going from 4th to 3rd due to its stronger mainstream and nightlife appeal.

  • Latin music made a major leap, moving from niche to mainstream thanks to global stars and demographic shifts.

  • Classic Rock dropped slightly, but it still holds strong with locals and aging tourists despite the closure of some key venues like Count's Vamp’d & Club Madrid Sunset Station Hotel.

  • Pop remains dominant, especially on the Strip, driven by high-dollar residencies and global tourist demand.

  • EDM held its ground, but it's now part of a broader nightlife blend with Hip-Hop and Latin.

  • Jazz and Crooner styles declined in ranking, though still culturally significant in upscale lounges.

  • Tribute bands remain a unique Vegas staple, providing a consistent draw across off-Strip and Station Casino venues.

Comparing the most popular music genres in Las Vegas from 2015 to 2025 highlights the city’s constant evolution while preserving its entertainment roots. Pop and EDM continue to dominate the Strip with high-profile residencies and club scenes, but the rise of hip-hop and Latin music reflects a younger, more diverse audience shaping the sound of modern Vegas. Meanwhile, classic rock and tribute bands maintain a loyal fan base among locals and nostalgic tourists, even as the landscape shifts. This decade-long transition underscores Las Vegas’ unique ability to blend timeless classics with emerging trends, making it a dynamic music capital that caters to every generation.

As for me, I'm still a classic rocker!

What's Going On In The Local Las Vegas Music Scene ?

I've recently had conversations with knowledgeable longtime fans, with venue owners, with staff members of one of the largest US publishers of music and entertainment magazines, and talks with a few rock stars themselves about what's going on in the Local music scene in Las Vegas. Especially in the classic rock genre.

Here's what I learned from these conversations.

For decades, classic rock has been the heartbeat of Vegas nightlife, pulsing from neighborhood venues, casino lounges, and in cool nightspots and bars where tribute bands and aging rockers have kept the spirit of the ‘70s and ‘80s alive. However, that once-dominant sound is fading into the background, edged out by pop residencies, electronic dance beats, and shifting audience tastes. The city’s music scene is evolving, and classic rock is fighting to hold its ground!

So what's happened to cause these changes in the music landscape?

Classic Rock has an Aging Fan Base

  • Demographics: Classic rock appeals primarily to Gen X and Baby Boomers, many of whom are now less likely to attend late-night club shows. And when they do, they don't have the money to eat and drink like they used to.

  • Decreased Attendance: As this audience ages, they often opt for larger, seated venues or festival-style events, bypassing small clubs.

Fewer New Acts in the Genre

  • Decline in Emerging Classic Rock-Style Bands: Fewer younger bands are adopting the classic rock sound as new genres (indie rock, EDM, hip-hop) dominate the cultural landscape.

  • Lack of Genre Evolution: Unlike pop or metal, classic rock hasn't had a significant modern revival or evolution that attracts new audiences consistently.

Increased Costs for Venues

  • Rising Operational Expenses: Insurance, rent, licensing fees, and staffing costs have all increased, squeezing profit margins.

  • Booking Challenges: Fewer available acts with strong draw power in the classic rock niche make it harder for venues to fill calendars with profitable shows.

Shift Toward Nostalgia Tours

  • Legacy Acts Touring in Larger Venues: Surviving classic rock acts like AC/DC, Kiss (Gene Simmons), and ZZ Top often play arenas or amphitheaters, not local clubs.

  • Tribute Bands Dominate Smaller Scenes: While tribute bands draw crowds, they often command lower ticket prices and don't always sustain long-term venue viability.

Cultural and Industry Shifts

  • Streaming & At-Home Entertainment: Fans increasingly consume music digitally, reducing the drive to seek live experiences.

  • Corporate Consolidation: National promoters and streaming platforms favor larger acts and venues, leaving fewer opportunities for independent clubs and local promoters.

  • Zoning & Gentrification: In many cities, gentrification pushes out small music venues in favor of upscale development.

COVID-19 Impact (Still Lingering)?

  • Loss of Revenue During Closures: Many venues never recovered financially after pandemic shutdowns.

  • Audience Habits Changed: Some fans became less willing to gather in crowded spaces, especially older demographics typical of the classic rock fan base.

Classic rock may no longer rule Las Vegas like it did in the past.
As the city continues to grow and shift, so too does its music scene. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer hungry for raw guitar riffs and nostalgic energy, the soul of classic rock is still here. Just a little bit harder to find.

Long Live Classic Rock. The Music That I Was Brought Up On!

What's Behind Pop Rock And Hip Hop Music Artists Going Over To The Country Music Scene?

On Monday, I talked about nationally known pop, rock, and hip-hop artists who transitioned from their chosen genre of music over to the country music scene. < Read Here >

Yesterday, on a more local level, I talked about my friend Jimmie B Romero and his very successful leap from rock music to being a country music star in less than a year. <Read Here >

So why are all of these very successful music artists making the change in the mid-stream of their careers?

Over the past few years, a growing wave of artists from rock, pop, and hip-hop backgrounds have traded their old sounds for steel guitars, cowboy boots, and country music stages. This shift isn’t just a gimmick; it’s a reflection of deeper trends in the music industry, audience tastes, and the evolving identity of country music itself.

"Going Country" is driven by a mix of strategic, creative, and market-based reasons. And it might even be about money!

Here’s why it’s happening more often.

Country fans tend to be very loyal and support artists long-term. The genre still emphasizes album sales, radio play, and live shows, offering a more consistent and profitable career path compared to the more volatile pop or rock scenes.

Unlike some music scenes that gatekeep, the country music industry is relatively open to crossover artists. It's become common for non-country acts to collaborate with country stars or pivot their style entirely.

In the streaming era, genre boundaries are more fluid. Many "country" songs today are a hybrid of country, pop, rock, and hip-hop. This flexibility makes it easier for artists to shift genres without alienating their audience.

Older pop and rock artists often find country music a natural evolution. Its themes, nostalgia, heartbreak, and resilience, align well with the songwriting maturity they’ve developed. And the country audience often skews older, aligning better with legacy artists.

Thanks to artists like Morgan Wallen, Kacey Musgraves, and even crossovers like Post Malone dabbling in country, the genre has gained trendiness and mainstream appeal, particularly among younger audiences.

Country still thrives on big tours, festivals, and intimate club gigs. Opportunities that have shrunk for some other genres. Artists want to go where the action (and money) is.

And for now, it's the country music scene!

See Y'all Soon.

Las Vegas Musician Jimmie B Romero His Journey From Rock To Country Music Star

In my recent blog, I talked about nationally known rock, pop, and hip-hop music artists who have made the transition (Either in part or fully) from their chosen genre of music to crossover to the country music scene.

Today, I'm featuring one of the most successful Local Las Vegas Rock N Rollers to make the crossover to country music performer. His name is Jimmie B Romero.

With over a decade of performances at renowned venues like the House of Blues, Toby Keith's Bar n' Grill, and The Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel Casino LV. Jimmie has established himself as a captivating frontman known for energizing audiences and filling dance floors all over town.

Jimmie's been a prominent figure in the Las Vegas music scene for years and has showcased his versatility by contributing to many established bands throughout his career, performing recently with high-caliber bands such as Jetboy and The Hellenbacks. Jimmie has also been associated with The Wild Wolves, another Top Las Vegas band that blends rock and country influences together.
His recent (Less than a year) evolution into country music has been marked by amazing success, amassing over 111 million streams across 26 platforms like Spotify and YouTube Music. His style blends the raw energy of rock with the storytelling essence of country, evident in tracks like "Johnny & June" and "Goes Around Comes Around."
It is amazing, to say the least, to have amassed the huge number of streams (111 million) that Jimmie and his country music have received in this short period of time!

Is It Just Me Are Pop Rock And Hip Hop Music Stars Choosing To Go Country?

From Beats to Boots: Are Rock, Pop, and Hip-Hop Artists Going Country?

Not long ago, country music was considered to be in its own world, fenced off by twang, tradition, and tight-knit Nashville circles. But today, the boundaries are breaking down.

In recent years, a wave of rockers, pop stars, and hip-hop artists have traded their city lights and studio beats for southern charm and steel guitars. What was once a surprising crossover is now a full-blown trend that's reshaping the country music genre, and the entire music industry itself.

In the last few months, I've noticed this trend here in Las Vegas. What's the deal?

In recent years, many successful rock, pop, and hip-hop stars have gone country for at least a while.

Here’s a list of recent rock, pop, and hip-hop artists who’ve made the jump to country or incorporated country influences in a serious way.

Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)

  • Released "We're All Somebody from Somewhere" (2016) — a country solo album.

  • Performed at country festivals and embraced a Nashville sound.

Darius Rucker (Hootie & the Blowfish)

  • Hugely successful country career since the late 2000s.

  • Now a CMA-winning solo artist with multiple #1 country hits.

Post Malone

  • Released "I Had Some Help" (2024) with Morgan Wallen.

  • Recently performed at the ACM Awards and is reportedly working on a full country album.

Katy Perry

  • Teamed up with Kacey Musgraves and other country acts, and flirts with country-pop crossover sounds.

Nelly

  • Released "Heartland" (2021), a country-inspired album featuring Kane Brown, Florida Georgia Line, and more.

  • Longtime collaborator with country acts since "Over and Over" with Tim McGraw (2004).

Jelly Roll

  • Started in hip-hop, moved into rock, and is now a full-fledged country artist.

  • Won at the 2023 CMA Awards and is a major force in country radio now.

Wow, if you ask me, this is a pretty famous list of Top-Shelf musicians that are looking at country music as the wave of the future!

{My Take}

As genre lines blur and audiences embrace more musical diversity, country music has become a surprising safe haven for reinvention. Whether it’s a rap icon trading bars for banjos or a pop star finding new life in storytelling and steel guitars, the move to country isn’t just a trend, it’s a transformation. With Nashville more open than ever and listeners tuning in with open minds, don’t be surprised if tomorrow’s biggest country hits come from the most unexpected voices from once stars in the rock, pop, and hip-hop music world!

Like I said earlier, I've seen this trend here in Las Vegas.

Could Sin City LV be the next West Coast Nashville?

I was born in Dallas, Texas.
Country works good for me!

Y'all Take Care!
