Roxy’s Battle Cry: — A Music Venue’s Fight To Keep The Amps Warm And The Doors Open For Business!

Thanks to Christina Vitagliano and Rob Hussey— two of the undisputed trailblazers in our Las Vegas music tribe — for dropping a Facebook flare this morning and spotlighting Hangout Bar & Grill’s post about the heavy reality hitting ROXY’S BAR & GRILL. Not about the circumstances around the post. But the reality of the venue side of the music industry.

ROXY’S BAR & GRILL is grinding in the trenches of bar life, kitchen chaos, and the live‑music battlefield, fighting to keep the amps warm and the doors open.

If you want the straight, unfiltered truth about what it takes to survive in this business, their post is a must‑read. Hit the link to get enlightened Here.

Las Vegas needs to stay wide awake to the hazards lurking in the music‑venue game — this town has watched more stages go dark in the last few years than any city built on neon and nightlife should ever go through! Each closure should be a reminder of how brutal the fight is to keep live music alive in a city that claims to run on it!

After reading ROXY’S BAR & GRILL’s post about their fight to stay alive, it doesn’t just tug at you — it detonates in your chest like a stack of Marshalls pushed past redline. It’s the kind of raw truth that should light a fire under every fan in this city.

Because this isn’t just about cheering for your favorite local bands. This is about backing the venues — the gritty, neon‑soaked battlegrounds where those bands are born, tested, and unleashed. These places pour their souls into the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the stage, the sound, the whole damn experience… and people forget one crucial thing:

These aren’t just hangouts. They’re businesses fighting for survival in a city that claims to worship live music.

So, if you love the bands, love the scene, love the nights that turn into memories, then you need to show some love to the venues that make it all possible!

Acoustic Echoes Fill The Air Inside The Hard Rock Cafe: Todd Kerns & Bruce Kulick Offer A Raw Unplugged Performance In Support Of The Nevada SPCA!

Saturday afternoon, we made our way down to the Vegas Strip to the Hard Rock Cafe, where Todd Kerns was performing with special guest Bruce Kulick in a fundraiser to support the Nevada SPCA through donations from the fans.

The packed bar got slammed with 90 straight minutes of pure rock adrenaline — Ozzy, Guns N’ Roses, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, Home Sweet Home, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, Wanted Dead or Alive, Bret Michaels’ Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Whitesnake’s Here I Go Again, and a full‑throttle sing‑along to Livin’ on a Prayer.

Then the night hit another gear. Special guest Bruce Kulick stepped up beside Todd, and together they tore into a medley of KISS classics — Forever, I Was Made for Lovin’ You, and Heaven’s on Fire —

Todd & Bruce transformed the Hard Rock Cafe into a fully charged Vegas moment — the kind lit by neon reflections off the bar and driven by a crowd locked into every note. The energy built steadily as the room filled, and by the time the guitars peaked, it felt less like a casual afternoon set and more like a signature Strip experience! It was the kind of performance that doesn’t just entertain; it leaves fans with a clear sense that they witnessed something very special, the sort of memory Las Vegas is known for creating!

{My Take}

The acoustic afternoon at the Hard Rock Cafe carried a kind of stillness you don’t often find on the Strip — a pause in the usual rush, where the lights outside felt distant and the room itself became the whole world. Todd Kerns and Bruce Kulick eased into their set with the kind of calm confidence that comes from years onstage, but here it felt different. Without the volume, without the spectacle, the focus shifted to the small things: the way their voices blended, the soft scrape of fingers on strings, the shared breath before a chorus.

Fans didn’t just listen; they settled into the moment. Some watched with quiet smiles, others let their eyes drift closed, taking in the songs like memories being revisited rather than performed. It was the kind of afternoon that reminded you how music can slow time down when it wants to — how an unplugged performance can feel more honest than a full production ever could.

And the donations for the Nevada SPCA added a gentle weight to it all. People arrived with envelopes, bags, and small offerings, placing them at the table with a kind of quiet pride. It wasn’t a grand gesture, but a collective one — a room full of individuals choosing to give back while sharing an intimate musical moment. In a city built on noise and spectacle, this gathering felt like a reminder that connection often happens in the quieter spaces!

What an awesome unplugged afternoon!

Country’s Bill Sanderson & Southern Rock’s Sweet Home Alabama Saddle Up At Viva Tequila Henderson To Benefit The Las Vegas High School & Jr High Rodeo Team Thursday Night July 16!

Pictured left: Bill Sanderson
Pictured right: Sweet Home Alabama & The Las Vegas High School & Jr High Rodeo Team

The Las Vegas music scene doesn’t just give back — it saddles up and rides in full force, and Thursday night in Henderson proved it. Country troubadour Bill Sanderson brought the twang, Sweet Home Alabama rolled in with that Southern‑rock thunder, and Viva Tequila Restaurant & Bar threw open its doors like a honky‑tonk ready for a throwdown, all to support the Las Vegas High School & Jr. High Rodeo Team.

From the first guitar lick, the place was jumping like a dance hall on a Saturday night. Twenty percent of every plate and pour went straight to the rodeo kids, and raffle tickets were whipping through the air like someone kicked up dust on a dusty backroad. We dug into onion rings, chicken strips, and fries, washed it down with ice‑cold drinks, and settled in for three-plus hours of country soul and Southern‑rock fire that kept the crowd shoulder‑to‑shoulder and loud enough to rattle the windows.

Inside Viva Tequila, the vibe hit that perfect crossroads — country comfort meeting Southern‑rock swagger. The twang warmed the room, the guitar grit sharpened it, and together they wrapped the crowd in that familiar, boots‑on‑the‑ground Americana glow. Every raffle ticket bought, every plate served, every chorus belted out felt like another spark tossed into the night.

This wasn’t just Vegas showing up — it was Viva Tequila, the musicians, and the community standing tall, lifting their young rodeo riders with every note, every cheer, every stomp of a boot on the floor.

With a packed house, food and drinks covering every table, and raffle tickets flying like rodeo arena confetti, Thursday night stayed alive from start to finish. The energy never dipped, the crowd never thinned, and the support never slowed. By the time the amps cooled, one thing was clear — Thursday night was a runaway win for the Las Vegas High School & Jr. High Rodeo Team, the kind of country‑and‑Southern‑rock‑soaked community victory that sends everyone home grinning!

{My Take}

The Las Vegas local music scene came riding in full force Thursday night, boots down and guitars up. Bill Sanderson brought that smooth, down‑south country croon — the kind that feels like a warm porch light on a summer night — while Sweet Home Alabama rolled in with Southern‑rock thunder that would make Lynyrd Skynyrd crack a proud grin. And Viva Tequila Restaurant & Bar swung its doors wide open, hearts even wider, turning the whole place into a desert‑side honky‑tonk with purpose.

It wasn’t just a show — it was a country‑and‑Southern‑rock throwdown for a cause, a night where twang met grit, community met rhythm, and Vegas proved once again it knows how to show up when it counts. For the Las Vegas High School & Jr High Rodeo Team.

For that, Vegas tips its hat to each and every one of you!

Y'all flat-out tore it up!

The First Riff Of Every Show: The Secret Weapon Every Musician Should Be Using!

Click on the pic to enlarge

Today’s blog hits with a little backstage spark. When my friend, Rock Legend Les Warner fired over his gig flyer last night, I didn’t just glance at it — I jumped on it. I blasted out a feature post on my blog, dropped it on Facebook, and let that thing ride straight into the feeds.

And while I was doing all that, it smacked me right in the face just how crucial these flyers really are. They’re not just pretty graphics — they’re the fast‑acting adrenaline shot that gets butts in seats and fans through the door. A sharp flyer is the quickest way to turn a gig announcement into a packed room and a loud night.

It's all about giving the fans the essentials in one quick look.

You want to cover the big three: who’s playing, when it’s happening, and where to show up. So, start with the band or artist name—make it bold and easy to spot. Then drop in the date and time, nice and clear. Finally, pop in the venue details and maybe a ticket link or a QR code if you’ve got it. Keep it simple, punchy, and let that flyer do the talking!

{My Take}

These flyers (Like the one up top) aren’t just promo pieces — they’re the opening riff to every great night of live music. They spark the buzz; they rally the crowd and set the tone long before the first note hits the air!

Keep ’em bold, keep ’em blazing, and keep ’em rolling out like fresh riffs off a hot sizzling amp!

Sunday June 28th 6 To 9PM: The Parking Lot One Year Resurrection of Count’s Vamp’d Bar & Grill LV

As if you needed the reminder, the signal’s already in the sky. This Sunday, June 28th, from 6–9 PM, the Vamp’d faithful are rising like a pack of leather‑clad phoenixes — the kind that don’t ask permission, don’t apologize, and sure as hell don’t fade quietly into the Vegas night. The whole Vamp’d family is rolling back to the old haunt — not inside, yeah, we know, but out in that legendary parking lot where half the greatest stories were born, broken, and bragged about. It’s the perfect battleground to reconnect, trade war stories, and pump a little oxygen back into the place that raised us, wrecked us, and rocked us harder than any joint in this neon‑soaked city.

And speaking of war stories, I’ve got a vault full of them — all good, all loud, all stamped with the Vamp’d seal of chaos. You’d think picking a favorite would be impossible, but it’s not. One rises above the rest like a spotlight cutting through the smoke.

A few years back, my wife and I hit the Cannery Hotel Casino to see Great White, one of our all‑time favorites. We had no clue we were about to witness history. Great White unleashed their new frontman, Brett Carlisle, and the dude hit that stage like a lion that had been waiting his whole life to roar. He tore the roof off the Cannery Showroom and owned every inch of that stacked house. I did what I do — dropped a 5‑star write‑up that went viral overnight and lit up the rock world with over 25,000 views.

Fast‑forward to the next year. Great White at the Westgate. Killer night. After the show, our crew headed straight to Count’s Vamp’d to finish the night the only way rock people know how. I slid into my sweet spot — right by the green room, next to VIP — and boom. Look who’s here. Brett Carlisle himself, soaking up the Vamp’d vibe like he’d been born into it. He recognized me from the write‑up and the photos, and next thing you know, we’re backstage with me giving Brett a personal guided tour of the historic Vamp’d green room. Quick impromptu interview. Pure rock magic. Brett’s one cool cat! — genuine, sharp, and built for the stage.

The interview went worldwide, and my wife Dorrie got her picture with Brett, a moment stamped forever in our (Dorrie & I) personal Vamp’d history!

Tomorrow night, when the Vamp’d family rolls in, what's your favorite memory? The loud ones, the wild ones, the ones that still make your heart thump like a kick drum solo! You've heard mine, what's yours?

See you Sunday night. (June 28th from 6-9pm)

Out front of the bar. For what I predict will be one kick-a$$ party!

Return to the Temple One Year Later: A Count's Vamp’d Family Gathering To Remember June 28th 2026

This Sunday, June 28th, marks one full year since COUNT’S VAMP’D went dark — the night the amps cooled, the neon dimmed, and an entire era of Vegas rock ’n’ roll swagger slammed its final shot on the bar. #vampdvegas

Read what I experienced that night. "The Night That Count's Lights Went Dim"

This Sunday, June 28th, from 6–9 PM, the Vamp’d faithful are rising like a pack of leather‑clad phoenixes. Everyone that is in the Vamp'd family are invited to gather at the old haunt — not inside, sadly, but out front in the parking lot where half the best stories started anyway. Time to reconnect, swap war stories, and breathe life back into the place that raised us, wrecked us, and rocked us harder than anywhere else in this city.

If you grabbed one of those final‑night Vamp’d shirts — or if you’ve got any Vamp’d gear in your closet — throw it on like armor.

Jen Lynn is shooting a video for a song she wrote, so the cameras will be rolling, and the vibe will be pure hometown rock‑family reunion.

Bring a chair. Bring an appetite. Donny DeCecco is rolling in with the YoDog food truck, stacked with the kind of grub that keeps rockers upright and smiling. Show Donny some love — he’s feeding the tribe!

If you’re coming, hit up Cathy Alberts or Valeri Rose. This hang is open to anyone who ever called Count's Vamp’d home!

RSVP on the thread on Cathy's or on Val's Facebook page, so Donny will know just how much food to prepare.

{My Take}

June 28th isn’t just a meetup in a parking lot — it’s a celebration of the greatest rock club this city ever birthed, the one that raised us, wrecked us, saved us, and stitched us together under its red lights and roaring amps. We gather not out of sadness, but out of pride — because Count’s Vamp’d wasn’t just a venue; it was a living, breathing beast, and every one of us was part of its pulse. On June 28th, we'll be standing shoulder to shoulder, loud and unbroken, honoring the best rock club there ever was, the best rock club there is, and the best rock club there will ever be!

We celebrate Count’s Vamp’d — forever our home, forever in our memories, and forever in our hearts!

You are truly missed!!

Friction Brought The Fire Last Night To The Hideaway Tavern To Start Off The Hot August Nights In Las Vegas

Last night, Friction delivered a high-voltage rock spectacle at The Hideaway Tavern (3369 Thom Blvd, Las Vegas), turning this down-home honky‑tonk into a full‑scale rock party!

FRICTION

(Pictured left to right in the top center photograph)

Peter Breene     Drums

Jorge Saenz     Lead Guitar

Priscilla Anderson   Lead Vocals

Kevin Anderson   Bass Guitar

About Friction and the show:

Formed in 2018, Friction fuses the best of ’90s and 2000s top 40 rock with a splash of timeless rock classics. Lead singer Priscilla Anderson commands the stage with her sultry, powerful vocals, while Kevin Anderson’s fat bass and harmonies anchor the groove. Jorge Saenz shredded lead guitar licks with killer tone and charisma, and Peter Breene’s drums held it all together with precision and flair!

With a blend of post-grunge anthems, alt-rock staples, an awesome tribute to the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, and select top 40 classics, Friction pulled out tracks that energized the crowd from the start to the finish. Banter between songs added just the right dose of Vegas-style showmanship and entertainment to the show!

Friction's performance at the Hideaway Tavern last night was more than a gig; it was a celebration.

About The Hideaway Tavern:

Outside, there's plenty of well-lit parking just a few feet away.

Inside the Hideaway Tavern, has a spacious full-service bar, plenty of seating both in the bar area and around the dance floor. The dance floor is huge. The sound and stage lighting are awesome, the drinks are cold, and the food is delicious! And the bartenders and waitstaff are really cool and know their jobs well!

I'd say that the Hideaway Tavern is one cool place to party!

My Take:

Friction showed the perfect mix of raw power, stage presence, and crowd connection last night that makes them stand out in the Las Vegas Music Scene. They're fun to watch and to listen to! If you missed them last night, they're not hard to find.

Go see them, you can thank me later. :-)

A Final Encore of Memories Musicians and Milestones For The Legacy That Count's Vamp'd Built

The countdown has been going on since only mid-May of this year. A little over a month. However, it seems like a lifetime since Vamp'd announced its closing on their Facebook page. Living with the harsh reality that Count's Vamp'd will be turning its lights off for good on June 28th. Less than a week away!

As the lights go dim for the final time, Las Vegas loses more than just a venue; it says goodbye to a cornerstone of its hard rock and metal community. Over the years, Vamp’d has been more than just a stage; it has been a sanctuary for musicians, fans, and the spirit of live rock 'n' roll. From unforgettable album release parties and surprise guest appearances to local legends cutting their teeth under its red lights, Count’s Vamp’d wasn’t just a bar—it was a living, breathing timeline of Vegas music culture. As we prepare to say goodbye, we look back on the memories, the musicians, and the milestones that made Vamp’d an iconic part of the Las Vegas music scene.

Here are a few of Count's Vamp'd memories, musicians, and milestones that stand out to me.

Memories

  • Surprise Vince Neil appearance in 2011 sparked an unforgettable jam session.

  • Zakk Wylde meet-and-greet and blistering solo show in 2013.

  • Weekly Sin City Sinners shows that became the heart of the local rock community.

  • Packed tribute nights—Motley Crüe, Van Halen, Ozzy, AC/DC—where the crowd sang every word.

  • After-show hangs with rock legends at the bar, blending stars and fans without a velvet rope.

  • Epic Halloween bashes and themed costume nights that brought the wild spirit of rock to life.

  • Memorial shows that honored lost musicians and united the Vegas music family.

  • Final week filled with tears, cheers, and spontaneous reunions of past performers.

Musicians

  • Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe) – Surprise guest appearance and Vegas anthem sets.

  • Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne) – Called Vamp’d “a rock cathedral.”

  • George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) – Frequent performer with firebrand solos.

  • Frankie Moreno – Vegas favorite who brought his showmanship to rock nights.

  • Cyanide – One of the staple local acts, known for high-energy tribute sets.

  • Crashing Wayward – Represented the evolution of Vegas rock in the 2020s.

  • Sin City Sinners – Resident legends with revolving celebrity guests.

  • Andrew Freeman (Last In Line, Raiding the Rock Vault) – Delivered powerhouse vocals across multiple tributes.

Milestones

  • 2010 / 2011 – Count’s Vamp’d opens, founded by Danny “Count” Koker and Corey Bush.

  • 2011 – Named Best Rock Venue in Las Vegas by Vegas Rocks Magazine.

  • 2013 – Hits 500th live show milestone.

  • 2015 – Launches “Vamp’d Unplugged” acoustic series.

  • 2020 – Survives pandemic shutdown with livestream concerts and virtual fan outreach.

  • 2023 – Hosts “Vamp’d 13th Anniversary Bash” with record turnout.

  • May 2025 – Announces final show on June 28th, selling out instantly and marking the end of a 15-year era.

  • June 28th, 2025 - Count's Vamp'd Final Show Hosted by Count's 77 Band

These are only a few of my best memories, famous musicians, and dated milestones that come to my mind.

What's Yours?  Comment below :-)

{My Take}

As the final notes from Count's 77 ring out on June 28th, Count’s Vamp’d won’t just be closing its doors—it will be closing a chapter in the soul of Las Vegas rock history.

The memories forged inside those walls, the musicians who bled passion on that stage, and the milestones that marked its rise from a neighborhood bar to a legendary venue will echo long after the amps are silenced.

For fans, bands, and the city itself, Count's Vamp’d was more than a venue—it was a home for many! Including me :-)

What Makes A Good Music Bar Venue In Las Vegas?

One of my favorite places to hang out in Las Vegas is a small, friendly bar that offers live music, good food, and drinks.

A good Las Vegas music bar venue should combine the right atmosphere, sound quality, and entertainment variety to stand out in a city packed with live music options.

According to local music fans. Here are some key elements that help make these venues stand out in LV. (Las Vegas)

Location & Atmosphere

Situated in a vibrant area easy to get to locations.

(Fremont Street, The Strip, Main Streets, Arts District, etc.).

Unique décor that matches the music vibe (rock, blues, jazz, country, etc.).

Comfortable seating and standing areas for different audience preferences.

Sound & Stage Setup

High-quality sound system with well-balanced acoustics.

A well-lit stage that provides good visibility for performers and audiences.

Proper spacing for both intimate acoustic acts and full bands.

Drink & Food Selection

A solid drink menu featuring signature cocktails, craft beer, or themed drinks.

Food that complements the music scene (bar bites, upscale dining, or themed dishes).

Reasonable pricing, considering Vegas’ tourist-heavy crowd.

Entertainment Variety

A mix of live music genres to attract different crowds (rock, blues, country, jazz, tribute bands, etc.).

Special themed nights, open mic events, or jam sessions.

A good rotation of local and touring musicians to keep things fresh.

Crowd & Ambience

A balance between locals and tourists for an authentic Vegas feel.

A well-managed entry system (door cover, guest list, or VIP sections).

Extra Features

Outdoor patio or rooftop options for a different vibe.

Gaming elements like pool tables, darts, or video poker machines.

Merch area for bands to sell CDs, shirts, or memorabilia.

{My Take}

"Las Vegas has no shortage of incredible music bar venues, each offering a unique experience. Have a favorite spot or a hidden gem that I should check out? I know I have mine!

Drop a comment below and let me know where you go for the best live music in town!"

Stiff Pick Takes March Round One Of Battle Of The Bands At The Bonfire Las Vegas

What an awesome Wednesday night I had last night being one of the judges for the "Battle Of The Bands" at the Bonfire LV! Each Wednesday night in March, bands hit the stage to compete for a place in the finals on March 26th. The winner receives $1,000 dollars in cold hard cash! Nice !!$$

Last night's bands gave the packed Bonfire crowd what they were looking for.

Four bands with four very different looks and music styles.

(In Order Of Appearance Last Night)

Acting Human

Punch Drunk

Rum Runners

Stiff Pick

Each band had 30 minutes to show their stuff.

With each of the four judges judging the bands on their dress and style on stage. Music presentation both in audio quality, as well as visual entertainment and style.

At the end of the night Stiff Pick came out on top as the winner, which earned them a place in the finals on March 26th at the Bonfire.

{About Stiff Pick}

With only two weeks as a unit. And last night's Battle Of The Bands contest was their first time on stage together. It's more than an amazing win for them last night!

I'm looking for a lot of good things in the future from Stiff Pick, as well as the other bands that performed in last night's contest.

Check out the band links above. Give them a follow-on Facebook. And go check these four amazing bands out.

Once again, congratulations to Stiff Pick on their awesome win last night. You proved that acoustic bands and music are here to stay!

And a big thank you goes out to my good friend (And social media Guru) Dezi Lou for inviting me to be a judge last night. Look her up for all of your social media needs. She Rocks !!
