VIVID Delivered Their Very Own Brand Of Pop Rock Power And Passion To Arizona Charlie's Decatur Last Night

 {Saturday, August 30th, 2025}

Last night I headed to Arizona Charlie's on North Decatur to catch a new band that just hit the Las Vegas music scene. I really didn't know much about this band, except that the band was loaded with some very talented musicians.

{About The Band & The Show}

Let's just say that VIVID got everyone's attention very quickly inside of the Coverall lounge last night, opening up their show with song selections that included "Light EM Up" (Fall Out Boy), "Call Me" (Blondie), "What I Like About You" (The Romantics), "Bad Romance" (Lady Gaga), and "Burning Down The House" (Talking Heads)

With a full night of song selections like these, songs that aren't typically performed live by other bands in LV, with VIVID taking these top pop hits and giving them a hard-rock spin. The night became a pop-rock dance party that no one inside the Coverall lounge last night won't soon forget!

Four hours of top pop hits, with VIVID putting their very own brand of Rock N' Roll twists on each and every song ... It was like hearing these pop tunes all over again for the very first time, but with an infusion of Rock N' Roll in them!

"VIVID is a breath of fresh air to the Las Vegas music scene."

VIVID Band Members (Pictured Left to Right)

Orlando Mestre - Lead Guitar & Vocals

Jason Hope - Drums & Vocals

Sarah Jessica Rhodes - Lead Vocals

Skokie G - Bass Guitar & Vocals

{My Take}

Vivid closed out the night with almost four hours of their very own pop-rock brand of music that proved pop hits can be reimagined into pure rock and roll energy. Their ability to twist familiar pop tunes into hard-edged anthems kept the crowd dancing all night long!

With a setlist full of pop-rock-infused songs that aren't typically performed by other bands.

VIVID is the kind of band that all music fans should experience live!

Check out their Instagram page for future engagements.

You'll be glad that you did!

Double Your Pleasure Double Your Music And Fun: Fremont Country Club Backstage Bar And Billiards

 Located at 601 E. Fremont Street, just one block off the Fremont Street Experience, are two sister venues that helped jump-start the Fremont East Entertainment District: The Fremont Country Club and the Backstage Bar & Billiards. Not only are they two of the coolest places to hang out for music and for entertainment, but they're also part of Las Vegas (music) history that's helped make Las Vegas, The Entertainment Capital Of The World!

Talking about Las Vegas' history

The two sister venues occupy the old downtown Sears building (1942 - 1948).

Backstage Bar & Billiards opened on November 16, 2012, with the larger concert hall slated to open right behind it.

Fremont Country Club followed, opening its doors in early 2013.

 From the start, the two venues booked live music several nights a week and became anchors for late-night club shows and special under-the-radar events.

(In October 2023, Green Day warmed up there ahead of the When We Were Young festival.)

The calendar skews rock-forward, punk, hardcore, metal, alt-rock, and emo, while still hosting blues-rock, indie, hip-hop, comedy, and one-off special events.

Both the Fremont Country Club and Backstage Bar & Billiards are the creations of Vegas nightlife ambassadors Carlos “Big Daddy” Adley and Ava Berman, who led the wave and are credited with much of the popularity of the Fremont East Entertainment district.

Many local fans call Carlos "Big Daddy" Adley and Ava Berman, perfect ambassadors for The Las Vegas Music scene. I call them visionaries of the future of music for The Entertainment Capital Of The World!

Free-standing venues (not inside casinos) where bands can play loud, late, and up close are exactly why major touring artists and fans alike love these two venues.

Beyond concerts, the rooms host comedy, DJ nights, and special events, giving local and touring acts alike a proper stage in downtown Las Vegas.

{My Take}

From its rich history to its eclectic mix of music genres and the vision of its passionate owners, Fremont Country Club and Backstage Bar & Billiards have cemented their place as cornerstones of Las Vegas’ downtown revival. More than just venues, they serve as gathering spots where creativity thrives, diverse sounds collide, and both local and touring artists find a stage that truly celebrates live music culture. With their dedication to keeping the spirit of Fremont alive, Carlos “Big Daddy” Adley and Ava Berman have built not just bars, but landmarks that continue to shape the city’s ever-evolving music scene!

To Big Daddy and Ava

Thank you for keeping music alive in our fair city, you're both Rock Stars in my book!

The Music Visions Of Mitch Perry

 In Rock guitar circles, Mitch Perry's name commands Respect! Over the course of his career, he’s built a reputation as one of the most versatile and passionate players in the industry, having shared the stage and studio with legends such as The Edgar Winter Group, Lita Ford, MSG, and Cher. His playing combines fire and finesse, blistering when it needs to be yet always rooted in feel and in passion. For years, Mitch Perry has been the go-to guitarist who can elevate any project, regardless of its style or setting.

But there came a point when he wanted more than to stand beside the greats; he wanted to carve out his own lane and create music that fully expressed his vision. That’s when the Mitch Perry Group came to life. Bringing together a powerhouse lineup of seasoned musicians, the band became a vehicle for Mitch to craft the kind of rock music he had always loved: soulful, blues-inspired, guitar-driven, and filled with genuine emotion.

The group’s debut album, Music Box, is the result of that vision. More than just a collection of songs, it’s a statement of identity, an album born from decades of experience, shaped by the chemistry of the band, and recorded with the kind of authenticity that only comes from musicians playing together in the room. The making of Music Box was less about overproduction and more about capturing real energy, and it shows. Every track carries the grit, soul, and passion of artists who live and breathe rock and roll.

The music visions of Mitch Perry!

Standout Tracks on Music Box

What makes Music Box shine is not just Mitch Perry’s virtuosity on the guitar, but how the entire album blends musicianship with emotion. Each track carries its own personality, and together they paint a complete picture of the Mitch Perry Group’s sound. All songs were written, performed, and produced by Mitch himself.

“Music Box” – The title track is where the band’s chemistry is on full display. It’s layered, dynamic, and perfectly balanced between punchy riffs and melodic passages. This song feels like the heart of the album, a showcase not just of Mitch’s guitar work, but of the Mitch Perry Group as a cohesive unit, playing with both precision and passion. To View "Music Box" Video Teaser

"Music Box" On Spotify   "Music Box" On Discogs   "Music Box" On SoundCloud

“Wasted Time” – Bluesy, soulful, and heartfelt, “Wasted Time” slows things down and gives the band room to stretch. Mitch’s guitar lines here are as emotional as they are technical, weaving around the vocals in a way that almost feels like a conversation. It’s one of those tracks that sticks with you long after the final note fades. To View "Wasted Time" Video

“Believe” – This song sets the tone with a mix of uplifting energy and raw power. It’s a track that captures Mitch Perry’s ability to write music that’s both melodic and driving. The guitar work here is crisp and soaring, but what really makes it special is the message, one of hope and perseverance, themes that feel especially relevant today. To View "Believe" Video

Other highlights include “Saint Valentine”, with its infectious groove and classic rock swagger, and “In the Morning”, a song that shows the group’s ability to blend softer textures with big, powerful choruses. Tracks like these prove that Music Box isn’t just about great guitar playing; it’s about the songwriting and storytelling that Mitch Perry has brought to the music industry for years!

Altogether, the album feels like a journey, moving from high-energy rockers to introspective ballads, all tied together by the band’s undeniable musicianship.

{My Take}

Music Box is more than just an album; it’s a statement from Mitch Perry whose artistry has only grown deeper with time. In rock guitar circles, Mitch Perry’s name commands respect, but with the Mitch Perry Group, he proves that great music is about more than virtuosity; it’s about heart, chemistry, and songs that truly connect. For fans who crave authentic, guitar-driven rock with soul, Music Box is a must-listen. Give it a spin, and experience why Mitch Perry and his group are keeping the spirit of timeless rock and roll alive!

Yes, these are the music visions from the incomparable Mitch Perry!

Slot Machines 101: What's Hot And What's Not!

Slot Machines, what's hot and what's not?

It all amounts to Understanding Slot Machine Volatility, or a.k.a. "Variance".

In slot gaming lingo, volatility, also called variance, refers to how often a game pays out and how big those payouts typically are.

High volatility means rare wins, but potentially huge ones. Expect long dry spells, but when the payout hits, it can be dramatic.

Low volatility games deliver frequent, smaller wins, great for steady play and preserving your bankroll.

It’s important to note that volatility doesn’t affect the game’s RTP (Return to Player), that’s a separate long-term payout percentage.

In practice, volatility helps define the ride: do you want a slow and steady stream of small wins, or are you chasing that big score at the risk of going long stretches without a hit? I like a little of both!

Based on expert reviews, volatility indicators, and Vegas-specific mentions, here are some examples of the most volatile slot machines in Las Vegas.

Note: The slot machines listed below may or may not be at your favorite Las Vegas Casino.

Progressive jackpot machines, Dragon Link, Megaways, Book of Dead, Gonzo’s Quest, Mega Moolah, Double Jackpot Slots, Megabucks, and Wheel Of Fortune, among others.

{My Take}

If you're chasing big wins and comfortable with risk, look for progressive jackpot slots or modern high-denomination machines in high-roller areas; they tend to carry the highest volatility. For a slower pace with more frequent, smaller payouts, stick to retro-style or lower-volatility machines.
In slot machine terms, volatility simply measures how often and how big a game tends to pay out, and if you’re chasing the thrill of high-risk, high-reward action, slot machines like Dragon Link & Megaways are the ones you’ll want to track down.

Good Luck!

A Rock Fueled Night: High Octane Brought The Energy To Arizona Charlie's Coverall Lounge All Night Long!

 Saturday Night, August 23, 2025

After a very trying week, I headed to Arizona Charlie's on North Decatur to catch one of my all-time favorite local bands in Las Vegas. I needed a dose of High Octane! Last night, the Coverall Lounge inside Arizona Charlie's turned into a full-blown dance party marathon.

{About High Octane}

High Octane has built a stellar reputation across the Las Vegas music scene, earning multiple “Best of Las Vegas” awards over the years. Last night, High Octane delivered a wildly diverse and very entertaining song list, from the top 70s classics to current chart-toppers in today's music world. Including "Play That Funky Music", "Boogie Shoes", "Hold On Loosely", "Bad Girls", "Sweet Child Of Mine", "Cupid Shuffle", "Highway To Hell", "Summer Of '69", and "You Shook Me All Night Long".  And that's exactly what High Octane did last night! The dance floor was full and was shaking "All Night Long"!

Band Members:

Out front on lead vocals (And very easy on the eyes): Kara McKee

On Bass & Vocals: Glenn Mungcal

Lead Guitar & Vocals: Scott Van Zen

On Drums & Vocals: Peter Kizzire

{About the venue and the band}

Intimate Vibe, Explosive Sound, and a dance party feel, All Night Long!

The Coverall Lounge is cozy enough for personal connection, yet spacious enough to house a full-blown dance party atmosphere.

High Octane brought the energy, while the Coverall lounge brought the vibe Saturday night!

Arizona Charlie’s Decatur is a classic locals' casino, known for its approachable charm and reliable entertainment lineup. Rich in history and character, it's an excellent stage for a band like High Octane that thrives on genuine engagement with its fans.

Why Local Bands Should Really Think About Hiring A Social Media Manager

 Over my 26 years in Las Vegas, covering the local music scene. I've seen many talented bands and musicians perform on stage, but they often lacked marketing and advertising skills when it came to their online presence. The same is true today. I've been watching a handful of bands that have the talent to take the next steps up in the music world, but their online presence falls short.

In today’s music world, talent alone isn’t enough to get noticed. A great band with incredible songs can still struggle to find an audience if no one knows they exist. That’s where social media comes in, and why having a dedicated social media manager can make all the difference for new and local bands trying to grow their fan base.

Social media is often the first place where fans discover a band. A well-managed page with consistent posts, professional graphics, and engaging content creates a brand identity that helps a band establish its unique presence. A social media manager knows how to make a band look polished and professional, even if you’re still playing local bars, small clubs, and out-of-the-way venues.

It’s not just about posting show dates. Fans want connection, behind-the-scenes moments, rehearsal clips, Q&As, and sneak peeks of new songs. A social media manager understands how to create content that actually builds relationships and keeps fans engaged between gigs.

Most musicians would rather be writing, practicing, and performing, not spending hours figuring out hashtags or editing videos. By assigning a trained professional to handle social media, band members can focus on their craft while still maintaining a strong online presence.

A social media manager knows the tricks of the trade: the best times to post, how to use ads effectively, and which platforms to prioritize for the band's audience. Instead of guessing what works, the band members can benefit from proven strategies that actually get their music in front of more people.

A strong online presence isn’t just about fans; it attracts venues, booking agents, sponsors, and even record labels. When promoters see that a band has an active, engaged following, the band is more marketable and more likely to get booked for bigger shows.

For new and local bands, hiring a social media manager isn’t a luxury; it's an investment. Just like paying for good gear or studio time, putting your online presence in professional hands can be the difference between staying local and breaking out regionally, or even worldwide!

If a band wants its music to reach beyond the local stages, a social media manager may be the smartest move a band can make.

So, I've told you what all social media managers can do for a band. So, where can you find one?

Let me introduce you to Dezi Lou, who I consider one of the ultimate social media gurus in Las Vegas. She's creative and endlessly passionate about helping brands (bands) and artists shine online. With a sharp eye for design, a natural talent for storytelling, and a deep understanding of digital trends, she knows how to craft posts that don’t just look good but actually connect with audiences. Organized and detail-oriented, Dezi balances her artistic flair with smart analytics, ensuring every campaign is both engaging and effective. Her friendly, approachable personality makes her a joy to work with, while her innovative ideas and dedication make her stand out as a true force in the social media world in Las Vegas! Sound good? She is! Check her out :-)

Facebook

{My Take}

In today’s music world, where visibility is everything, hiring a social media manager can be the difference between being overlooked and being discovered. New and local bands already juggle writing, rehearsing, recording, and performing; the last thing they need is the added stress of managing the fast-moving world of online promotion. A skilled social media manager knows how to craft engaging content, grow an audience, and keep fans excited and connected, allowing musicians to focus fully on their art. By investing in professional social media support, bands give themselves a stronger chance to stand out, build a loyal following, and turn their passion into real momentum.

Yungblud: My Choice For The Next Big Thing In Rock!

 I've been around music since taking piano lessons at age five. Playing in my school's jazz and marching bands, and even a few rock bands or two. I became a nationally read sports and entertainment (music) ghostwriter while I was still in high school (1968). So, I can honestly say that a lot of my life has revolved around music and the music industry. With my longevity around music, I've seen a ton of really good music artists come and go.

Recently, I was asked who I thought was going to take the lead in the rock scene.

Here's my clear-cut answer.

Every once in a while, an artist comes along who feels like the spark the rock world has been waiting for. For me, that spark is Yungblud (born Dominic Richard Harrison). Hailing from Doncaster, England, Yungblud grew up surrounded by music; his father repaired guitars, and his grandfather played with T. Rex, so rock is in his blood. From the beginning, Yungblud has carried himself with the energy and defiance of punk legends while giving his sound a modern edge that connects deeply with today’s generation.

Since breaking through in 2017, Yungblud has built a reputation for electrifying live performances and a fearless approach to songwriting. His music blends punk, glam rock, pop, and hip-hop influences, but what sets him apart is his honesty. He doesn’t shy away from topics like mental health, identity, and belonging, issues that resonate strongly with fans who feel unseen in mainstream culture.

What makes me believe Yungblud is the next big thing in rock isn’t just his style or sound, it’s his authenticity! He represents the same rebellious spirit that once made artists like Bowie, Nirvana, and Green Day cultural forces. He’s unafraid to be himself, and that vulnerability, paired with his raw talent, is exactly what rock needs right now.

In a time when rock has been searching for its next defining voice, to me, Yungblud looks like the one to carry the torch forward. His energy, his message in music, and his connection with fans, he’s not just making songs, he’s making a movement, a very big movement!

My Look At The Las Vegas Raiders 2025 Season: The Good And The Not-So-Good Things That I See

 The Silver and Black enter the 2025 NFL season with plenty of intrigue. Raider Nation always has high expectations, and this year is no different. But while there are clear signs of progress, there are also lingering concerns that could hold the team back.

The Good:

1st, I like the new head coach, Pete Carroll, a lot! Enough said.

FYI: Remember, I was ghostwriting the Cowboys during the Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer head coaching eras. And yes, I believe head coaches do make a big difference in teams' winning (Or losing) ball games!

The Raiders’ defense looks sharper and more aggressive, anchored by Maxx Crosby, who continues to play at an elite level. The secondary has shown improvement with stronger coverage and better depth, giving the unit more balance than in recent years. Offensively, the run game has been steadier, giving the team more balance and taking pressure off the quarterback. And I like Geno Smith a lot at QB! His experience and leadership is a big plus to the Raiders!

There’s a new sense of belief that this roster can compete with anyone on any given Sunday. We'll see on opening day, September 7th, when the Raiders take the field to battle the New England Pats!

The Not-So-Good:

The biggest question mark remains consistency at quarterback. Flashes of talent have been there, but turnovers and missed opportunities continue to haunt the offense in key moments. Will Geno Smith be the answer? I think he will. The offensive line still struggles against top-tier pass rushes, making sustained drives harder to come by. On top of that, the Raiders face a tough AFC West, where every divisional game feels like a playoff battle. To truly rise, they’ll need to turn those close losses into wins!

{My Take}

The Raiders of 2025 are a team on the verge; they have the talent to make noise, but whether they become a true playoff contender or just another middle-of-the-pack squad depends on solving their offensive inconsistency. Raider Nation has waited a long time for a breakthrough, and this season just might be the one that shows which direction the franchise is truly heading. To the playoffs would be nice!

Is Las Vegas Losing Its “Entertainment Capital Of The World” Title?

 For decades, Las Vegas has proudly worn the title of The Entertainment Capital of the World. From the neon-lit glory days of the Rat Pack and Elvis Presley to the mega-residencies of Celine Dion, Elton John, and Britney Spears, the city has been the go-to destination for live music, spectacular productions, and one-of-a-kind shows. But in recent years, the question has started creeping into conversations:

Is Vegas in danger of losing its title?

It’s not that the entertainment is gone, far from it. The Sphere, Allegiant Stadium, and the ever-evolving Strip have brought in superstar acts like U2, Adele, and Garth Brooks. But competition is fierce. Cities like Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and even Nashville are drawing massive events, global festivals, and unique experiences that rival what Vegas offers. The streaming era also means many artists no longer need to commit to lengthy Vegas residencies to reach fans—they can sell out tours in multiple cities or even online.

Another factor? Changing tastes. Younger generations are just as likely to spend their money on immersive pop-up experiences, destination festivals like Coachella or Tomorrowland, or exclusive fan events in smaller venues as they are on a weekend in Vegas. Add in rising costs for hotels, tickets, and dining on the Strip, and some visitors are questioning the value of a Vegas trip.

Still, Vegas has a history of reinvention. From mob-era casinos to family-friendly attractions to luxury resort experiences, the city has never stayed in one lane for long. With new venues like The Sphere redefining live production and the city’s growing sports scene, hosting the Raiders, the Golden Knights, F1, and the Super Bowl. Vegas may be pivoting toward becoming the sports-and-entertainment capital, rather than just the entertainment capital of the world.

The real question might not be whether Las Vegas will lose its title, but whether it’s simply evolving into something bigger, flashier, and more multi-dimensional than ever before. If there’s one thing this city knows, it’s how to put on a show, whether the world is watching in person, on a screen, or from the stands.

Las Vegas might be tested to keep its title, but the neon lights aren't going dim just quite yet!

Behind The Drums Or Out Front Center Stage: The Dynamic World Of Jeff Tortora Entertainer Extraordinaire

 {Tuesday, August 12th, 2025}

Last night, I sat down and had a fascinating and entertaining conversation with professional drummer and percussionist Jeff Tortora, one of the busiest rock stars on planet Earth. We talked at length about his multifaceted life in the music and entertainment industries. What an amazing musician, and cool dude to talk to! Our talk (Interview) lasted for just a little over 30 minutes, but we could have talked for hours about Jeff's interesting life in showbiz!

Jeff's story reminded me of an interview that I did a few years back with another amazing rock star, Mr. Mitch Perry. His interview lasted for almost 3 hours! What an amazing person, and old school classic rocker!

 Back to today's story.

I had originally contacted Jeff for an interview about how his gig with Count's 77 (Band) went in Sturgis, South Dakota, at this year's Motorcycle Rally. But within only a few minutes into our conversation, my attention quickly turned to Jeff himself. After our conversation ended, I quickly started doing research about him, and after a phone call or two. Here is what I dug up on this very interesting man and rock star extraordinaire!

Jeff Tortora is a dynamic force in the Las Vegas music scene, known for his infectious energy, powerhouse drumming, and charismatic presence as a frontman. A multi-talented performer, Jeff has spent years captivating audiences on the Strip and beyond, combining his exceptional musicianship with his natural ability to entertain. Whether behind the kit or at the mic, he brings a mix of precision, passion, and humor that keeps crowds engaged all night long!. His versatility and showmanship have made him a highly sought-after figure in the Las Vegas entertainment scene, embodying the city’s spirit of high-energy world-class entertainment.

Jeff's resume reads like a who's who in the music and entertainment fields. Jeff currently performs with the Femmes Of Rock, the Blue Man GroupTinnitus, and Count's 77, among other projects around town.

 Femmes of Rock, Blue Man Group, Tinnitus, and Count’s 77 each offer a distinct flavor of live entertainment, showcasing the city’s ability to cater to every taste. Femmes of Rock dazzles with electric string virtuosity, blending violin mastery, rock anthems, and glamorous stage presence into a high-energy, all-female spectacle. Blue Man Group trades traditional instruments for inventive percussion and multimedia artistry, delivering a surreal, comedic, and visually explosive experience. Tinnitus pounds out gritty, hard rock with raw power, guitar-heavy riffs, and a straightforward, no-frills approach that speaks to the purists. Count’s 77, steeped in vintage rock tradition, mixes bluesy swagger and classic rock vibes, fronted by Danny “Count” Koker’s charismatic presence. Together, they embody the eclectic heartbeat of Vegas, where virtuosity, creativity, grit, and nostalgia all share the same stage.

Are you starting to see just how talented Jeff Tortora is? He effortlessly matches his style and musicianship to any occasion or music genre.  That's pretty awesome if you ask me!

From local dive bars to international stages, Jeff Tortora embodies what it means to be a modern, multi-talented musician in Las Vegas. Whether he’s behind his drum kit, painted and roaring as a band’s frontman, or sharing the stage with legends, Jeff Tortora is a rhythm-driven storyteller, one who keeps the city’s pulse fully alive!

By the way, his gig with Count's 77 at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was Awesome!

FYI: You can catch Jeff and his band, Tinnitus, on August 23rd at The Dive Bar LV

Rock Stars Who Kicked Off Their Music Careers At An Early Age In Life

 Las Vegas has always been a city of bright lights and big dreams, and its music scene is no exception. The future rock stars of this town are already sharpening their skills on small stages, open mics, and battle-of-the-bands competitions, ready to follow in the footsteps of legends who made it big at a young age. History shows that age is no barrier to success; rock icons like Joan Jett, Eddie Van Halen, and Billie Eilish were already making waves in their teens. Today’s Vegas talent is proving that same fire still burns, with young musicians (teenagers & younger) channeling raw passion, unshakable ambition, and a city’s worth of inspiration into performances that could someday put them on the global stage.

Later, I'll be spotlighting the Las Vegas youth movement in music.

For today, I'll be spotlighting some of the biggest names in music who were already on stage while most kids were still doing homework.

Here’s a look at rock stars who proved that age is just a number when it comes to musical talent and high ambition.

Eddie Van Halen – At just 20 years old, Eddie and his brother Alex dropped Van Halen’s debut album in 1978, revolutionizing guitar playing forever!

Joan Jett – She picked up her first guitar at 13 and was performing with The Runaways by 15, making waves in the male-dominated rock world.

Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) – Formed his first band, Sweet Children, at 14. By 16, he was recording music that would lead to Green Day’s punk rock takeover.

Wolf Van Halen – Joined Van Halen on tour at only 16, holding his own alongside legends.

Stevie Wonder – Though better known for soul and R&B, his early years were pure rock spirit, signed to Motown at age 11 and touring soon after.

Jon Bon Jovi – Recorded his first single at 16 and was working at a recording studio before forming Bon Jovi at 21.

Slash (Guns N’ Roses) – Started playing guitar at 15 and was jamming in bands across Los Angeles before he could drive.

 Michael Jackson – With the Jackson 5, he was performing stadium shows at just 11 years old, inspiring rock and pop artists for decades.

Avril Lavigne – Signed her first record deal at 16, bringing punk-pop attitude to a new generation.

Taylor Momsen (The Pretty Reckless) – Transitioned from acting to fronting a hard rock band at 16, touring the world before adulthood.

{My Take}

These artists show that when it comes to rock ‘n’ roll, the only real requirements are passion and a whole lot of nurtured talent!

No matter what age, if you’ve got the music in you, the big stages are more than ready for you to perform!

After a period of anticipation, the shop on Sunset Road swung open its doors to musicians, fans, and gearheads for a day filled with live music, camaraderie, and plenty of rock ’n’ roll energy!

Rockin’ the Chrome: The Spazmatics Las Vegas Brought 80s Nostalgia to Life Last Night Inside Of The Santa Fe Station Hotel Casino

 Last night, The Spazmatics LV transformed the Chrome Showroom inside Santa Fe Station into a retro time machine that transported fans back to the neon-soaked heyday of the 1980s. With their signature blend of tight musicianship, off-the-wall attire, and unbridled energy, the band delivered an unforgettable set that had the crowd dancing the night away.

This isn’t The Spazmatics' first rodeo at the Chrome Showroom, the vibrant, 510-seat venue is a favorite for both performers and fans alike. Known for its excellent acoustics, plush seating, and intimate layout, the Chrome creates the ideal atmosphere for groups looking to deliver a high-voltage live experience.

Doors opened at 8:00 PM, and by 9:00, the stage was electrified with pulsing synths, slick guitars, and the unmistakable vibe of the 80s, all complete with skinny ties, Brylcreem hair, and horn-rimmed glasses. From flaming solos to infectious rhythms, The Spazmatics delivered an adrenaline-fueled concert filled with nostalgia and flair.

I've never seen the dance floor so full that fans were dancing in the aisles! And never let up from the first song through the Spazmatics finale. The evening felt like a communal celebration, with longtime locals and first-timers alike belting out lyrics and reliving the soundtrack of their youth. After two hours of tight arrangements and longing glances back to the past, the show wrapped up around 11:00 PM with the crowd still hungry for more!

Nestled inside the Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino, the Chrome Showroom is Las Vegas’ hidden gem when it comes to live music. Whether catching polished cover acts or engaging originals, audiences keep coming back for the venue’s relaxed but vibrant environment, and when The Spazmatics show up, the attraction is simply irresistible!

{My Take}

For anyone who was there, the night was more than a performance; it was an exhilarating, communal flashback to an era where the music was as bold as the outfits. And if you missed it, don’t worry, the whispers on the scene hint that The Spazmatics will be back before you know it.

Long Live The Spazmatics!

Why Some Local Musicians And Bands Get Noticed And Why Some Never Get Their Fair Share Of The Bright Lights Of Las Vegas

 Pretty much every day since moving to Las Vegas in May of 1999, when I first wake up, I check social media to see what's going on around Las Vegas in the music and entertainment industry. Then I proceed to my Associated Press and United Press International news feeds to see what is happening around the world that might concern Las Vegas. Then I write my blogs and ghost articles and send them off to press.

The media plays a significant role in determining who gets noticed and who doesn't around the world. So do many other factors. Las Vegas is overflowing with musical talent. Many musicians and bands seem to stay in the spotlight consistently, while other musicians and bands hardly ever get mentioned. I'm here today to explain why.

Yesterday I asked my Facebook friends the question: Who are some of the most gifted musicians in Las Vegas that have not received the accolades they deserve?

In one day, 24 hours, the post received over 125 comments, and was seen on Facebook by over 2,800 people, mentioning musicians and bands who they believed deserved more of the spotlight that Vegas has to offer. All the names that were mentioned have incredible talent! So, why aren't they mentioned more when it comes to the local music scene? As a lifelong journalist, I'm here to shine some light on why I believe this is happening.

Las Vegas is a city teeming with musical talent, from polished tribute acts and lounge legends to gritty rockers and boundary-pushing originals. Yet, anyone watching the scene closely knows that not all talented musicians get the same spotlight. Some names seem to pop up in the media again and again, while others, despite immense skill, fly under the radar. So why does this happen?

One major factor is visibility and branding. Bands that maintain an active social media presence, regularly update their content, and engage with fans tend to draw more attention from bloggers, journalists, and promoters. Media outlets are more likely to cover artists who already have an audience or know how to market themselves.

Another big reason is relationships and connections. Musicians who take time to network, whether with venue managers, local influencers, or media professionals, often find themselves in the right place at the right time. These connections don’t guarantee talent, but they do open doors for interviews, reviews, and mentions.

Timing and trends also play a role. If a certain genre becomes hot, like country, funk, or ‘80s rock tributes, bands within that style are more likely to be featured. Others, even with equal or greater musicianship, may be overlooked simply because their sound doesn’t match the current wave.

Finally, some musicians treat their craft as a full-time pursuit, investing in press kits, hiring publicists, or staging high-quality shows. Others may play purely for passion and word-of-mouth, which can limit their exposure even if their music is top tier!

In the end, talent is essential, but in a city like Las Vegas, presentation, persistence, and promotion can make the difference between background noise and front-page news!

Ultimately, it's not just about who plays the best; it's about who gets seen, heard, and talked about. In Las Vegas, the spotlight isn't always fair, but those who learn how to chase it often find themselves right in the center of the bright lights of the Las Vegas music scene!

Comments welcomed!

Classic Rock Thunder: Chevy Metal And The Far Worst Hit The Bootlegger Copa Room Sept. 5

Event Tickets

Las Vegas is no stranger to epic nights of live music, but Friday, September 5th inside the Bootlegger Copa Room promises to be a throwback rock 'n' roll blowout for the books. Two killer bands – Chevy Metal and The Far Worst are teaming up for a night that’s equal parts gritty, groovy, and gloriously loud!

Chevy Metal, the high-octane side project founded by Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins, continues to carry the torch with their raw, unfiltered love for classic rock. Known for ripping through hits from Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Queen, and more, Chevy Metal doesn’t just play covers, they breathe new life into them with unmatched energy and soul. Expect big riffs, big vocals, and the kind of showmanship that makes you feel like you're front row center at a 1978 arena tour!

Opening the night is local favorite The Far Worst, a band that brings a modern punk spirit to old-school rock 'n' roll swagger. With their tight musicianship and don't-give-a-damn attitude, they’re quickly becoming one of the most talked-about bands in the Las Vegas music scene. They’ll get the night rolling with infectious hooks and a stage presence that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go.

The Bootlegger Copa Room, known for its classy vintage vibe and top-tier acoustics, sets the perfect backdrop for this collision of raw rock power and local talent. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Hawkins' legacy, a fan for guitar-driven nostalgia, or just looking for a night of pure, loud fun, this is where you definitely need to be!
